- The alternate ending to "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" (featured in the 138th Episode Spectacular) was created to foreclose any staff (be it writers, or even the overseas animators) on The Simpsons from spoiling the mystery. At that place were also many of people who could take shot Mr. Burns equally shown in the same episode. Nevertheless, in the previous episode, y'all encounter him walk out of the meeting with everyone else, very slowly. (Debunked: Smithers was delirious at the fourth dimension. He probably couldn't remember the fact he did get out the meeting with everyone else.)

- In the comic story Babe Got Back (at Burns), when Mr. Burns and Smithers walk past Maggie at the beach, Burns says "await, Smithers, it's that child who shot me".
- There is another reference of Maggie as a "killer". In the episode "Poppa'south Got a Make New Badge", Homer is threatened to be killed past the mafia after stopping their business concern. Just as the mafia is almost to kill Homer, several gunshots wound all the gangsters. The shooter was, of course, Maggie.
The show as well refers to Who Shot Mr. Burns? in the post-obit line later on Maggie saves Homer: - Homer: Look at Maggie. Napping then peacefully.
Marge: Yep. Probably thinking of the time she shot Mr. Burns. Homer: She'due south merely like Clark Kent. Whenever there'south lots of excitement, she'south nowhere to exist found. (Homer and Marge leave. Maggie wakes up and smiles right at the camera ominously) - Maggie's propensity for firearms is also seen in the segment "The Fright to Creep and Scare Harms" of "Treehouse of Horror XIII" and in the comic story Maggie'southward Crib 10.
- The alternating ending (mentioned in a higher place) was featured in the "The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular", forth with several (fake) alternate versions of Burns getting shot, with a different culprit in each.
- The "Outhouse Gag": Grampa abruptly ends a discussion to "use the outhouse". Lisa says that the family unit doesn't own an outhouse, which causes Homer to panic and run outside to try to cease Grandpa from befouling a edifice (Homer'due south tool shed) that only resembles an outhouse.
